The "Robotics Laboratory" has been established almost at the same time of the opening of POSTECH with the immediate mission to the automation of "Pohang Steel Company(POSCO)" in addition to the basic research aiming world leading robot technology. The development of robot and sensor to replace human in a dangerous underwater environment is the final target of the underwater group. We developed the PETASUS which is a 6 DOF AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) with a robot arm, and we solved the complex dynamics equations of the AUV with efficient control schemes. Recently, this group has focused on the development of underwater sensors and localization system which is the basic problem of underwater perception. We proposed a novel range sensor using the signal strength of an electromagnetic wave, and we verified the performance of proposed sensor in several conditions. This sensor can be applied in academic and military fields such as navigation system of underwater vehicle, composition of sensor networks and so on. Our staff consists of 1 professor, 12 Ph.D. students, 3 master students. Till now, 28 Ph.D. and 39 MS received their degrees and they are working very hard in university, research institutes and companies to make the dream come true. ———————————————————————————————— 포항공과대학교 기계공학과 로보틱스 · 바이오메카트로닉스 연구실은 포항공과대학교가 개교된 1986년 1월에 창립된 이래 포항제철, 산업과학연구원과 공동으로 연구를 수행하면서 산 · 학 · 연 연구의 모범이 되고 있습니다. 본 연구실은 창립 초기부터 7-자유도 직접구동로봇을 시작으로 여유자유도로봇, 모바일로봇, 유연한 로봇, 병렬형 로봇 등 여러 로봇의 기구학적, 동역학적 해석에 기반을 둔 제어기법, 기계시스템의 정밀제어의 연구를 수행하였습니다.
